Mike was born and raised in Northwest Indiana and now lives in Valparaiso with his wife, Jennifer, and their three children, Abby, Charlie, and Braden. After graduating from Indiana University in 1994, he joined his family’s business, Paul Sur Pontiac of Merrillville, where he worked across departments and built a strong foundation in business leadership. By 2004, after completing the NADA Graduate School for Auto Dealers, Mike became Dealer Principal at the age of 32.

For the next two decades, Mike guided the company through industry shifts and economic challenges, including the Pontiac transition to Buick/GMC, the 2008 recession and 2009 GM bankruptcy, and the disruptions of the 2020–2021 pandemic. In 2023, he completed a successful exit plan with the support of DNEP, selling his dealership and subsidiaries.

Today, Mike brings that same experience and perspective to DNEP. He understands firsthand what it means to lead a business, navigate uncertainty, and plan for the future. His role is to help other business owners find clarity and confidence as they write their own next chapter.
